O s\u00f3dio \u00e9 um mineral que atua na manuten\u00e7\u00e3o do volume sangu\u00edneo, equilibro \u00e1cido-base e na transmiss\u00e3o de impulsos nervosos, sendo importante na nossa alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o. Devemos lembrar que al\u00e9m do s\u00f3dio presente no sal que consumimos, h\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m o s\u00f3dio encontrado dentro dos alimentos, principalmente os processados e ultraprocessados. Por isso devemos controlar a quantidade que consumimos. Segundo a Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial da Sa\u00fade recomenda-se para adultos e crian\u00e7as o consumo de 4 g de sal ao dia (1600 mg de s\u00f3dio), com o objetivo de auxiliar no controle da press\u00e3o arterial e prevenir doen\u00e7as cardiovasculares.
